Jonathan Adler's Shelter Island Retreat

///INTERIOR DESIGN
Part modernist, part rustic beach retreat, it is impossible not to feel reinvigorated by the cheerful home of designer Jonathan Adler and husband Simon Doonan - especially when it's snowing outside. - Marie Trepanier

In the pool pavilion, the throw pillows and sun wall sculpture are by Adler and the sconces are vintage.

The entry courtyard.

Ball-chain curtains define the sunken living area, where Adler grouped a sofa, slipper chair, table lamp, and throw pillows,
all of his own design; the cocktail table, Geoffrey Harcourt shell seat, and Beni Ourain rug are vintage.

(Left) Custom-made ceramic tiles distinguish a corner of the space; the light fixture is by Rewire Gallery,
the lounge chairs are vintage, and the low table and rug are by Adler.

Adler chairs covered in a Lee Jofa fabric surround a vintage Milo Baughman table.

The master bedroom features an array of Adler designs, including the bed, reading lights, tiles, feather headdress, and duvet.

The fire pit and hood were custom designed.

The flat roof conceals solar panels by GreenLogic Energy.
