Pretty in Pink (1986) • Fashion in Films

Pretty in Pink is a 1986 American teen romantic comedy-drama film - directed by Howard Deutch and written by John Hughes - about teenage love and social cliques in 1980s American high schools. It is one of the John Hughes films that is commonly identified as part of the "Brat Pack" movies. Did you know that Molly Ringwald was 17 year-old when she filmed Pretty in Pink?

The costume designer was Marilyn Vance. She was the costume designer on The Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller's Day Off and Pretty Woman. She was nominated for 3 Academy Awards and won an Oscar for the movie The Rocketeer.

"This is a really volcanic ensemble you're wearing, it's really marvelous!" - Duckie

  1. Such a great post! Wasn't she the bomb? I didn't really like the prom dress that she made. But- I did love the whole style of the film and everything else that she wore.

    1. My thoughts exactly! My sister was with me when I was writing this post and I told her: "Geez I feel like in an American Apparel ad!" :)
