FEEDBACK • Jealous [of The Blonde Salad]
This post refers to a previous post titled JEALOUS [of The Blonde Salad]
I would like to thank the people who took the time to express their opinion on the post JEALOUS [of The Blonde Salad] and for bringing me back down to Earth. I guess I hit pretty close to home with this entry because you guys told me that a lot of you felt the same way and understood my jealousy. Thank you for listening and for understanding! I would like to respond to a few comments that I received...
Thank you Caro for being such a loyal reader. You are the best! I am glad that I made you laugh because even though I was feeling frustrated about my situation I wanted to do it in an entertaining way. I checked out Andy from the Style Scrapbook and I realized that she has more than 16 000 followers! Why is it so hard to feel good for these people? :) // Thank you Mademoiselle Lala – You are right about the fact that 1 new follower means more to me than 10 followers mean for The Blonde Salad. I want to build a community with my blog; I want to have conversations with my readers and develop friendships. I don’t want a shrine dedicated to my life so that people can admire me. Thank you for helping me remember the purpose of my blog. // Thank you Pio – I read the post you wrote about being pissed off by the blogosphere. It is very frustrating and disappointing that hard work doesn’t necessarily translate into success. We do have to stay strong, as you so wisely said in your comment. // Thank you Raquel – Thank you for being the voice of reason. I am usually the type of person who analyzes all the different aspects of a situation before making up my mind, but last week I was too frustrated to do it. Thank you for doing it for me. You are right that it must be a pain to have all the blogosphere talk about you and your life. // Thank you Best of Palm Beach – Someone once told me to stop rooting for the opposite team and root for your own. You are right that nobody is perfect, even if they sometimes appear to be. // Thank you MakeShiftModel – Thank you for your wonderful email and for the time you took to write it. You made me see the whole situation from another angle.
Now what?! After reading all of your wonderful comments I realized that I was only jealous of her success because I don’t even want my blog to look like hers. She doesn’t inspire me. She is just a torture device. So if she is not an inspiration, why do I keep visiting her blog? You will be happy to learn that I removed her blog from my blog roll. I don’t know how long it will last but I think it is Step 2 in the recovery process – surrender to a higher power! :)

YEAH! Good for you!!! :) So proud of you, because I know how hard it is to compare! But we're all different and while she's writing blah, blah about what amazing things she's done today, you are writing true and inspiring stuff! :)
ReplyDeleteAnd you're totally right about building a community! I have few semi-famous blogs from the UK on my blogroll and I've been commenting on few of them. To my surprise some of the girls just started to comment on my posts and even followed me! And the others... never even bothered to check out my blog (even though they have fewer followers). It's just about the person and people.
And I;ve seen comments on Blond Salad blog - majority of them are just "you look so great bella". And that's it. ;) LOL!
Keep your chin high and back straight (as my mum would say)! X

FYI: I just read my post and it sounds bitchy - it seems that I'm commenting to get comments back, but it's not what I wanted to say. I'm just saying that some of the "famous" ones can check out your blog, offer suggestions and just encourage you, while others just want nothing to do with you and don't even bother to check out their readers. I know that Blonde Salad has A LOT of comments every day and it's easy to get lost in it, but I doubt that she sits and tries to reply to at least 10% of them. And that's what pisses me off! ;) X
ReplyDeleteHi Marie, This is a fantastic post...Its great that you have been so honest but sometimes I think that we let our insecurities get the better of us... You are the kind of blogger that writes as though you already have 100,000 visitors per day.You write with consideration, intense passion, and its obvious that you love your blog and value your readers. I have been reading your blog for just under a year and keep re-visiting because of the fact that you dont just write on a whim, you write because you appreciate those who are showing you love and support. This in time, is what will get people to take notice, not a new $1500 mohair Chanel smock top !
ReplyDeleteKeep up the fantastic and inspiring work.. xxxx
Hey Marie!
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, thanks for your sweet comment about me in your post, it meant a lot to me!
I just wanted to tell u that with this "second part" of your jealous post, u have shown yourself as the amazing blogger i think u are. Just the fact that u not only took the time to read all of the comments we left u on the previous one, but to even dedicate to answer each one of them, means the world to your readers.
I think this is where u stand as an incredible writer who is really focus in creating relashionships and learn from others instead of just shouting messages without caring the impact they will have to those who receive it.
For me it is a pleasure to be your reader and consider u a great inspiration, not only for the great content u always share in here, but also because u represent those who make a difference and are commited with their goals.
Keep it going girl! I know u'll get there!
Big kiss
Caro :)
Hi :)
ReplyDeleteAbout the numbers of people getting into your blog -
You should think about how many people you touch when you write. How many remember what you said and will come back to read.
Remember people are reading in RSS (like me) and the visits are not counting. Remember there is more to it than visits. It's what people say to you, it's the feeling you have after blogging. I find it worth more than posting posts with no content, and if so most are advertised content.
Hi there. I dunno how I stumbled across your blog, but I just wanted to say that this post really inspired me. I know a lot of people who have blogs, including myself, who feel under severe pressure to keep up to these super-bloggers, and get really upset over a lack of "success". But today you have inspired me to say that success isn't measured by how many mundane comments saying "omg your so lucky" or "your so pretty" like some bloggers get, but in factsuccess is measured by people who genuinely read your content and enjoy it. I don't personally dislike any of these mega-bloggers, but they do put unnecessary stress on regular people. I do actually read the blogs, and in the end they can be very depressing, but for some reason continue to read. I never comment though. Because I know my comment won't be read. I know you will read this and appreciate my input. I just wanted to let me know that reading your post was the most inspiring thing I have done all day.
ReplyDeleteThank you xoxo
