Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti • F/W 2011

Philosophy di Alberta Ferretti - Fall/Winter 2011

Season after season, I complain about the color palette for winter.
It's always the same - black, grey, white and a couple of red dresses.
Alberta Ferretti must have felt the same way because she made a drastic change by choosing lavender, baby blue, yellow, soft pink and mint green for her color palette for fall 2011.
The change is so drastic that it feels like she created clothes for the wrong season.
There is no doubt that this collection is gorgeous.
But pastels for fall? I don't know.
It looks odd, don't you think?
Am I being old school?  Am I a step away from writing "no white after Labor Day"?

Nonetheless, this collection is absolutely gorgeous.
It is hard to hate a collection in which every outfit has its own matching coat - very mod, very sixties.
There are also the princess coats, the baby dolls, the mohair dresses.
Sooo beautiful...

  1. Loving the change! Pastels are a nice change from the usual fall colors! :)

  2. Hmm. It feels a little jarring to me too, with the possible exception of the light blue.

  3. OMG I was thinking the same thing! I was looking at the trending colors for fall that don't look fall at ALL. It is very pretty, but how much do you think realistically you can wear these many pastel, bright colors when you are starting to look pasty? I will participate this Fall, but sparingly ;) Good call though!

  4. I personally hope not! It looks great on people with certain skin colors, but I am too pale to pull off pastels, unfortunately :\

  5. ooh I say wear whatever you like, little fashion 'rules' like this are so restrictive! I tend to wear sombre 'winter' colours in summer, although I do draw the line at wearing tartan after March. Something about tartan is so wintery to me, it just looks wrong in warmer months!

  6. Pastels would be a very odd colour pallette to have for winter, but also a very exciting one. Theres also been lots of pastel colours on the red carpet this award season, so who knows maybe Alberta Ferretti is the way forward.

  7. I think I wouldn't wear those looks head to toe in the fall, but I might mix them in with some darker complementary colours!
