Vogue was described by book critic Caroline Weber in The New York Times in December 2006 as "the world's most influential fashion magazine”. I have to agree. Vogue is published in more than 18 countries and has been on the newsstands since 1892. The magazine has been read in the homes of many generations of women and has had an undeniable impact on them.
I am now bringing you on a journey through female fashion through the covers of Vogue magazine. Every cover tells a story – a story of fashion and beauty. It is fascinating to see the evolution of Vogue covers through the decades – from the glamour of the fifties to the more casual looks of the nineties.

I absolutely adore old Vogue covers. Someday, when I am independently wealthy and had a free room in my home, I want to cover my walls with framed prints of them :) This is a beautiful selection. If I had a choose a favourite, I think it would be the 1940. Thanks for sharing!

ReplyDeleteIt's incredible how iconic some of those early Vogue covers are... and how much they've changed! I love the Sophie Dahl cover, as it kind of looks like a modern version of one that could be from the 40s.

This was lovely to look through! Thanks you so much for compiling this. Without a doubt VOGUE is influential and has been for generations. I'd love to read a story about generations of women who've been Vogue readers. Good housekeeping did a feature like that to celebrate their 125th anniversary if I remember correctly.
ReplyDeleteGreat post, I love looking so far back at old covers, it's crazy how much fashions have changed even within the last 5 years!
